About WOFF files

WOFF and WOFF2 are compressed versions of TrueType and OpenType fonts made for websites. WOFF2 is smaller and used by most sites today.

Open Online previews both formats. For WOFF2 only basic header details are shown, because reading its tables needs Brotli decompression, which browsers don’t offer to web pages. The preview itself uses the font and works normally.

What you can do here

  • Type your own text and change the size
  • See every character the font contains
  • Read the family, style, version, designer and licence
  • Move sliders for variable fonts (weight, width …)

Limitations

  • The font exists inside this tab only; nothing is installed.
  • WOFF2 files show basic details only, because their data tables are Brotli-compressed.
  • Font collections (.ttc) are not supported.

Privacy

The file is read by your browser and stays on your device. Open Online has no server that could receive it, and nothing is stored once you close the tab. Privacy policy

Common questions

Why are details missing for my .woff2 file?

Its tables are compressed with Brotli, so the family name and character list can’t be read here. The specimen and character grid still use the font.

Can I save the original font?

Yes. Use Download in the top bar.
