About TTF files

TrueType (.ttf) has been a standard font format on Windows, macOS and the web for decades. A file holds the outlines of every character plus the data for spacing and hinting.

Open Online loads the font into this tab only. You can type your own text, see every character and read details such as the family, version and designer. Nothing is installed.

What you can do here

  • Type your own text and change the size
  • See every character the font contains
  • Read the family, style, version, designer and licence
  • Move sliders for variable fonts (weight, width …)

Limitations

  • The font exists inside this tab only; nothing is installed.
  • WOFF2 files show basic details only, because their data tables are Brotli-compressed.
  • Font collections (.ttc) are not supported.

Privacy

The file is read by your browser and stays on your device. Open Online has no server that could receive it, and nothing is stored once you close the tab. Privacy policy

Common questions

Is the font installed on my computer?

No. It exists inside this tab only and disappears when you close it.

Why do some characters look like another font?

The font may not contain them, so your browser falls back to a system font. The Characters view lists what the font really has.

Can I open .ttc collections?

Font collections (.ttc) are not supported yet.
