About CBZ files

CBZ is the common format for digital comics and manga: a ZIP archive of page images, named so they sort in reading order. Comic readers such as YACReader, Calibre and Kavita use it.

Open Online shows one page at a time, preloads the next one and reads the title, series and writer from the embedded ComicInfo details when they exist. Nothing is uploaded.

What you can do here

  • Read page by page with the arrow keys or buttons
  • Fit the page to the window, to its width or show it at actual size
  • Jump to any page by number
  • See title, series, writer and publisher from the embedded details

Limitations

  • Only CBZ (ZIP) comics are supported. CBR (RAR) comics can’t be opened yet.
  • Pages are decoded by your browser, so rare image formats may not show.

Privacy

The file is read by your browser and stays on your device. Open Online has no server that could receive it, and nothing is stored once you close the tab. Privacy policy

Common questions

What about CBR files?

CBR comics are RAR archives, which Open Online can’t open yet. Many readers can export them as CBZ.

How are the pages ordered?

By file name, with numbers compared as numbers, so page2 comes before page10.

Can I use the keyboard?

Yes. The left and right arrow keys, Page Up and Page Down turn pages, and Home and End jump to the first or last page.
